About This Project

One of my biggest research interests is in historic preservation efforts. I have conducted multiple research projects to determine if and how historic preservation is related to gentrification. In this project, I mapped the historic homes in Downtown Lexington. I then mapped these homes in relation to the incomes of the people who live in them. As shown in the second map above, there was less change in household incomes in the historic neighborhoods. This lends support to the idea that historic preservation and gentrification are not as causally linked as some research would suggest.
